TECHNOLOGY:
Pixel Pandemic has developed a unique MMORPG game engine for next generation PBBG. The game engine is based on 100% Microsoft .NET technology and enabled for Azure Cloud Computing. This facilitates a highly agile and scalable platform suitable for the exponential growth in the social games market.
The game engine includes a backend content management system enabling the game development team to adapt game balancing elements easily. It will also support HTML5 enabling all browser clients including smartphones and tablets to access the game.
The game engine supports multiple payment systems and integration in multiple game portal such as www.bigpoint.com as well as social networks such as Facebook.
GAMEPLAY:
The game engine supports a MMORPG game mechanics format where players play a character which can develop his skills either by leveling up or by training. It features a fully customizable avatar that allows the player to pick the looks and clothing of his character during the character creation process. Additionally, the player may also equip his character a number of looted or bought clothing items during the game.
A crafting system allows the player to create improvised weaponry and special food items at special locations which can easily be configured and customized.
A combat system features turn based tactical combat where varying categories of weapons can impact the outcome and multiple enemies can be battled at once.
Using a friend invite and clan system players can invite their friends and co-operate to fulfill clan objectives and full API integration to Facebook allows players to post important game events such as “level ups” on their Facebook wall.
An achievement system offers hardcore players an extra challenge and can easily be configured using an XML.
The game map offers a top down, bird’s eye view of the city, with characters being able to enter and loot buildings at special locations. These buildings may also contain facilities such as shops, training facilities, NPCs who offer missions, jobs or survivors in need of help. These special locations are represented on the city map by specific colors and the game area can be divided up to separate maps with level pre-requisites for access.
The game engine supports up to 25.000 locations on grid which can be fully customized by a level design editing tool. It also offers the option to design underground maps such as a subway system and a sewer system for players to explore.
The core game mechanic is based around an action point system, wherein players use Stamina Points (SP) to perform actions such as moving to another location, shooting enemies or looting. Stamina Points regenerate over time or can be unlimited depending on whether the mechanics should incorporate the premium membership features where players can subscribe or purchase a certain period of premium exclusive advantages.
